Patented is an absorbent article comprising a cover layer, a barrier layer and a stabilizing layer with dimensions. The stabilizing layer is arranged between the cover layer and the barrier layer and has a Dry Stiffness Index of at least about 0.9 g/gpsm and a Wet Stiffness Loss of at least about 80%. A first portion is located outside the dimensions of the stabilizing layer. A second portion is located within the dimensions of the stabilizing layer and the first portion has an MCB Stiffness of less than an MCB Stiffness of the second portion.
